Double Check Your Name & Social Security Number

Any mismatch between the IRS and the Social Security Administration database regarding your name and Social Security Number can causing e-filing errors. The same is also true for your date of birth. If your name has changed, you need to contact both the IRS and the SSA to update your records. If the SSA records shows a wrong year of birth, you need to correct that information too so you can get your Social Security and Medicare benefits when you qualify for them.
