Let Your Voice Be Heard

Friday February 18, 2005
The President's Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform is seeking comments from the public about everyday tax issues faced by individuals and businesses. Is there a particular tax topic that you find needlessly troublesome? Or have you ever made a different decision (either in your personal finances or in your business finances) simply because of the tax implications? According to the Tax Reform Panel website, they are seeking comments on three very specific areas of taxation:
  • "Headaches that taxpayers - both individuals and businesses - face because of the existing system. By headaches, we mean unnecessary complexity and burdens."
  • "Aspects of the tax system that you believe are unfair."
  • "Specific examples of how the tax code distorts important business or personal decisions."
The Tax Reform Panel said they "are not looking for specific proposals," so don't email them your creative ideas for revamping the tax code. Nonetheless, the Government actually wants to hear from you, so let your voice be heard!
