Job Search Tax Deduction Tips

Friday March 11, 2005
When you're job searching, it's important to keep track of your expenses. Tax-deductible job search expenses may help lower your tax bill.

A client of mine travelled around the country last year trying to land a new job. The company was headquartered in New York, but the office location was in Chicago, and the client lived in Seattle. She eventually got the job, but she had to fly to these cities for interviews.

Besides travel, keep track of the cost of printing your resume, hiring a job coach, attending career fairs, or getting a background check.
