Once a week we'll take a look at what other About.com Guides are saying about how to manage finances and plan for the future. This week I found these great tips from other guides:
  • Top 10 Personal and Business Insurance Tax Do's and Don'ts - Personal Insurance guide Bobbie Sage reminds us of which insurance premiums are tax-deductible, and which aren't.
  • FairTax: Income Tax vs. Sales Tax - Economics guide Mike Moffat is rattling the tax reform saber with his summary of the "FlatTax" proposal to abolish income taxes in favor of a national sales tax. Moffat even is asking FlatTax Supporters five crucial questions, and the result has been an avalanche of responses.
  • 401k Contribution Limits - Mutual Funds guide Dustin Woodard reminds people to max out their 401k accounts, which is one of my top tax strategies.
  • Bond Mutual Fund Basics - Dustin Woodard enlightens us about the essential features of bond mutual funds. I often recommend investing in tax-free municipal bond funds to my high-income clients. But regardless of your income level, Mr. Woodard reminds us that investing in bonds is a great way to diversify our personal investment portfolio.
