Buddhist Tax Ethics
Sunday January 29, 2006
I spoke with Anthony Flanagan, the Guide to Buddhism, about how a Buddhist would view his or her tax obligations. Mr. Flanagan talked about the importance of charity, being truthful, and avoiding greediness. Given the importance of these core values, I would say that Buddhists might want to think about tax strategies that are in line with their beliefs, such as tax deductions for charitable donations, and taking advantage of the limited-time hybrid car tax credit as one way to help save energy. You can learn more about tax ethics from a Buddhist perpective on Mr. Flanagan's Buddhism site.
