Reporting Rental Income and Expenses

Seems like the real estate market is still going strong, as lots of people have been asking me how to handle rental income and expenses on their tax returns. Landlords report their rents and expenses on Schedule E. The nice thing about rental income? Unlike running your own business, rental income is not subject to the self-employment tax, which makes being a landlord slightly less taxing than starting your own business.
