Democratic party leaders have hinted at a new direction for tax policies now that they have regained control of the House of Representatives. Reuters has summed up the political environment for tax cuts:
"The Democrat in line to take over as chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives' tax-writing panel said on Wednesday it was too early to confront the question of what to do about tax cuts set to expire in 2010."USA Today has published a preview of the Democratic tax agenda on the estate tax, expiring tax deductions, and the alternative minimum tax.
