How Much Does Tax Software Really Cost?

Saturday March 3, 2007
A most difficult question to answer, since the price of software depends on which versions you choose, whether you need to prepare state tax returns, and whether you e-file the return. But personal finance blog Getting Finances Done has tackled the math and posted a very note-worthy price comparison of major tax software packages. The bottom line? GFD points out that free tax software (for those who qualify), Tax Cut Premium + State Online, and Tax ACT Deluxe + State are among the lowest priced offerings. These are also top-notch tax prep programs based on my own reviews of this year's tax software.
