Carnival of Tax #13
Monday March 5, 2007
Gina Gwozdz, a certified public accountant, is hosting the thirteenth edition of the Carnival of Tax. Gina has done a great job of highlighting tax-saving ideas from around the Web. I particularly liked the article on organizing your tax documents from personal finance blog Queercents. I also enjoyed reading how to claim pizza delivery mileage as a tax deduction. KevinL, blogging at Pizza Delivery Stories, shares how he keeps track of his mileage and how he fills out Form 2106 to get a tax deduction for the business use of his car. The Skilled Investor attempts to answer a very complex tax question: is it better to save for retirement using tax-deferred plans (such as Traditional IRA and 401k plans) or using tax-exempt plans (such as Roth IRA and Roth 401k plans). Their answer is traditional tax-deferred plans might be more advantageous. Personally, I am a big fan of Roth IRAs, but this year I'm thinking of switching back to a Traditional IRA so I can get the tax deduction.
