Not Too Late to Claim Your Stimulus Rebate
Individuals receiving Social Security benefits or veteran's disability pensions will qualify for the rebate, even if they don't have any taxable income and aren't required to file a return. The IRS estimates that some 5.2 million people in this category have yet to file a return and claim their rebate. Social Security recipients and disabled veterans would qualify for a rebate check worth $300, or $600 if married and they file jointly. That means the IRS is holding about $1.5 billion in unclaimed stimulus payments.
The IRS has developed a simplified set of instructions for retirees and pensioners to request their rebate. You can download Package 1040A-3 (pdf), which contains instructions on which lines need to be filled out before mailing it off to the IRS.
If the rebate isn't claimed this year, you will still be able to claim the rebate on next year's tax return. A recent draft of next year's Form 1040 shows a new line item for the unclaimed stimulus payment.

We got a pair of checks and have no good use for this small amount of money, so we put the funds into this years estimated taxes. Unfortnatly many on the bottom of the income (or those with no income at all for many reasons) got nothing.
As accrdited investors the money is a drop in our asset buckt. It also increased the federal debt. Getting something which we don’t need at the expense of more debt for our children to pay for is at best stupid, but then that nevers entered the skulls of the congress or executive branch.
One might say that it might save someone from losing a home. No where near enough to make a significant difference.
An example of useful funding was the mustering out pay I got when my active duty was over. I presume it still exists for those who survived the battles in the mid-east. My money was seed for etering college under the GI bill many years ago.
If those who got the above money used it for education, eliminating plastic debt or schooling it might be jsutified, but no where enough to achive these goals.
My dollars worth– Two cents adjusted for inflation.
