By February 5, 2013

Taxpayers in New Jersey and New York may be eligible for a further extension of time to file tax returns and to remit payment of federal taxes as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The IRS has extended the following deadlines:

Estimated Tax Payments -- the 4th payment which is normally due by January 15th, 2013, has been extended to April 1, 2013.

Personal, Business and Payroll Tax Returns -- any returns normally due to be filed between October 26, 2012 to January 31, 2013 will now be due by April 1, 2013.

This extended deadlines applies to taxpayers located in Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey and in Nassau, Queens, Richmond and Suffolk counties in New York.

Previously, the IRS had provided a February 1, 2013, deadline for remitting estimated tax payments and filing personal, business and payroll tax returns for taxpayers in these counties.
