IRS Standard Mileage Rates

2006 Mileage Rates

The following applies to the 2006 tax year. Click here for 2005 standard mileage rates.

There are different standard mileage rates depending on for what purpose a car was driven.

Standard Mileage Rates

Business mileage

  • 44.5 cents per mile

Medical or Moving mileage

  • 18 cents per mile

Charity mileage

  • 14 cents per mile (except for Katrina-related charity)

Special Mileage Rates for Katrina-Related Charity

  • 32 cents per mile as a charitable deduction, or
  • 44.5 cents per mile for reimbursement purposes.
